I have lived in Reno most of my life, attending Peavine Elementary, then Clayton, then McQueen, and now I teach English at Reno High. Occasionally I write articles for the Reno News and Review.
I spent most of my adolescence despising Reno and being anxious to move away. Once I did, however, I found I actually loved it.

I lived in SF for two years, and when I came back to Reno, I discovered that my little hometown has actually come a long way! They've done a great job reinventing downtown. I would definitely not consider Reno to be culturally barren anymore. It's totally bizarre, I've recently started hearing more and more great things about the Reno scene from East Coast transplants from places like Philly and even New York.

I do love San Francisco though.
It's the Reno curse. :)
