Nightlife info

Hey, just curious how people find out what's going on locally. Do you read the paper? Myspace? word of mouth?

A friend of mine is thinking about starting sort of a Reno entertainment blog and is wondering how useful/popular that would be. I know there are already some things like that out there--personally, I like http://775shows.gotdns.com/ as a forum for upcoming events. I also make a lot of plans based on fliers/myspace bulletins/facebook invites and the club grid in the RN&R. A lot of cities have really great music/event blogs, if something like that existed would you read it? Do you know of anything out there already I should know about?

I look up on myspace at all the clubs and promoter sites. Most of them are pretty on it. As far as a forum for shows, 775shows is good but it is not too diverse. There's nvraves.com and others that covers the rave scene.
renopassport.com (and magazine) has a Pick of the Month column each month. We research the whole market and post the shows we think are worth seeing.
If there was an event blog and talks about the good shows and do their homework, I'd definitely read it, but I haven't seen one yet.

Hi Ellen! I am a new Reno transplant. As someone who has lived in NYC, LA & SF, I'm finding it hard to get any info on the scene here. I do the myspace, facebook thing and have tried to find the RN&R paper, but I haven't had much luck, so I read it online. So let's just say, that if it was an up to date and well maintained blog, I'd be there every day.
