Reno Baby!

People who dig Reno, Nevada - join us!

My Car was stolen on December 23rd and as a last resort to getting my car back I put an ad on Craigs List with a pic and a statement as to it being stolen. WOW In less that 12 hours Reno residents from a company called J'sVW Van called me saying that they were pretty sure that they were sitting behind my car. I hauled ass over there and sure enough there it was. NOt only is Craigs List cool but we have some great Reno people and we need to police this crime in our city with community awareness and dedication. Long story short I got my car back and the Police didn't do a damn thing but stood in awe has to how I found my car. "Wow we wouldn't of thought of that"....hmmmm

That is crazy. Did I hear about this on the news? Either way, it's an amazing story. Did you get the car back in the same shape it was in when it left you? Any idea what they did to steal it? Knowing that would do something to help prevent theft, for sure.

Yes you probably read about this in the RGJ, they did a story on it and I believe it was talked about on several local radio stations. Yes I know what they did to steal it, my own stupidity or faith in mankind. I left the car running out in front of a 7-11 at 5 in the morning and they just jumped in and drove off. I won't do that again but I saw just this morning at the same 7-11 a woman leave her car running while she went in. I just shook my head, like I said never again. And no the car has damage to it but it's not to worse for wear, It's fixable and it's cheaper than buying a new car. Thanks for your reply, I hope that others who are the victim of such crimes can learn from my solution, Craigs List is simply an amazing tool that can be utilized for such things. You can read the story on RGJ.com under the "neigborhoods" category. Look for "Craigs List helps man recover stolen car"
