Reno Baby!

People who dig Reno, Nevada - join us!

I want this to be as inclusive as possible, so I'm willing to allow businesses to register using business names. I, and I think most people, would prefer individuals to sign to sign up using their own names and feel free to promote events and specials at their businesses, but I'm cool with you if oyu feel more comfortable not doing it that way.

Fake accounts will be banned as soon as I figure it out. This isn't the place for that stuff.

Very generous policy ... gotta say I think the real strength of this site is that it's real people talking to one another ... not too much selling going on. I like that about Reno Baby.

That's hardly fair. Tad Dunbar deserves to be heard!

I don't know about the business thing. Not that it's probably worth the effort for them, but I'd be fine with having only personal, not commercial content here.

Not all "businessess" are bad: we registered our all volunteer, community-wide event, Reno Galena Fest, for the express purpose of saving a cherished regional park which is threatened, along with others (look no further than CA), of being moth-balled.

Galena Fest is non-profit, open to all, and offers a range of activities/races/fun/handicap accessible festivities to anyone who wants to venture out on a fall morning.

Business is not all bad. Thanks, Ryan, for allowing local interests to interact with their local community.

Yeah I'm not against trying to promote business here at all. My goal was for this to be the place to find anything Reno. Business is a part of that. I like dealing with people first, but I understand how it goes. This post was more specifically to address the fake account situation and to lay out what I prefer. Fake accounts are banned, just in case there was a question there. This is about what's real.

Reno Galena Fest,

You might be better served by starting an account with your actual name and interacting and posting on behalf of RGF. Local businesses and interests are run by local people. There's no reason not to just be the person and talk about the business or interest. But now I'm having a conversation with a nameless faceless person, which is something i tend to avoid.

Wolfy/M.--

The only names I have for you are a nickname and an initial, and I would never recognize you if I met you in person (unless you are wearing the headgear and sunglasses and holding a glove over your face and in silhouette), so isn't that being nameless and faceless here? Maybe I will have a chance to meet you at the blogger dinner if someone who knows you points you out to me.
