DAMN, I showed up late to this party. Just reading through all of these fine posts, thinking I would be the first to comment on the Foxy Olive, and Boo-Yah...smacked in the face at the end. Well, good work, DMD...as usual.
Now I guess I have to pull a good one out just to save face...does anyone remember Landrums? I don't even think they sold alcohol, but at 2am, there was never a sober face in the long line for a chili-cheese omelet.
Seriously, though, I'm going to cast a vote for Val's Midtown Lounge on 2nd. Classic.
I'm past the days of dive bars (for good or for bad) but circa '94-'97 It'd have to go a little something like this...
The Barrel - the quintessential college dive bar... really lax carding, cheap beer, loud music and piles o' drunken kids
The Wall - I was a big fan of the mid 90's version of the Wall. My friends and I lived there on Friday nights
Daiquiris - Thursday was ladies night, and that meant cheap drinks, and well... ladies
Lil' Nugget - There's nothing like a few cheap jack n' cokes and bloody mary's before you slam down an awful awful!
I know there were a few more... but for some reason that part of my life is a bit hazy...
3rd St. Blues Club is pretty awsome. Good music, but I found this funky bar during HAG and it's....shoot I forgot the name and location but it's dark and it's red and it's just freaking dark and weird and cool. There was a roller babe chic hanging out, people came on foot, bikes, skates, etc...I know it's on a corner and it's either on Center or Virginia. I'll have to get back to you.
Hahahaha -- what does this say about us? I did mention Peyton Place (Feb.) - but I would bet there are lots of Reno Baby folks who have been there many more times than you or I have been. (OK - making a lot of assumptions there, but still!)
