What part of town do you live in, and why do you like it?

OK I'll admit that I started this discussion so I can boast about living in the best neighborhood in town. I'm in the old southwest just about 3 blks S of California Ave -- not "Cal Ave" please:)

I moved here in '94. Most of my neighbors on the block have been here much longer than that. They are really great people. A few weeks ago they re-paved our street (for the first time since, I think, horse and buggy days). To celebrate we're having a block party the last weekend in July.

What I love about this neighborhood is how walkable it is. I can walk to the movie theater and Wingfield. I can walk to restaurants that run the range from Michael's Deli to Sezmu. And there are more of those every year. And now the West St market is coming (I'm not forgetting the farmer's market on California). When I moved here years ago I hoped that this area was on its way up -- and it is!

Ditto, Craig. I live a few blocks south of you, it sounds like, and I dig the area. Without question it's the most happening spot in town with the cool, unique restaurants and businesses going up, as well as the proximity to the downtown area.

I'm a block north of you. Are you on the cool side of Arlington? I'm not, but at least I'm on the cool side of Plumas. (Jerz is not)

Love the neighborhood, the parks, and most of the people. Love the old houses, the slow streets, and the proximity to CalAve, SoDo, WeFi etc...

You just said WeFi. You're dead to me. And when did uppity, snooty, and Scripps become cool?

Trust me. Scripps is a tool. I know because he's me...
The line of demarcation between the "good" and "bad" sides is not Plumas, as Wolfy would have you believe, it's Arlington. And by that measure, you both live on the "bad" side. And by that measure, you are both douchebags.

INTENSE FEELINGS ABOUT WHERE PEOPLE LIVE ARE BEING EXPRESSED!
MY NEIGHBORHOOD IS BETTER THAN YORUS BECAUSE YOURS SUCKS A LOT AND YOUR PENIS IS REALLY SMALL JUST LIKE YOUR DOG THAT YOU GOT AT THE SPCA BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO GET A REAL PURE BREED DOG LOL YOU SUCK SO MUCH HAHAH

Serious reply: SoDo= South Downtown? That's my guess.

Whoa. I meant douchebag in a "funnyhahauradouchebag" way...

Sorry if you took that seriously, Nico. Jim and Wolfy should just take their love affair offline. Those two know each other pretty well and sometimes their relationship seeps to the surface in places it shouldn't.

BTW, I'm pretty content with both of my mutty SPCA dogs. Purebreads are for communists.

SoDo? What?

I used to live in the Plumas Street Neighborhood and remains my favorite part of town. Not only is it close to a lot of fun nightlife, but features some of the best culinary delights...Indian, Thai & Mexican.
I currently live in Northwest Reno, which has many of its own charms but find myself spending much of my time in that old Southwest Area.

One thing I would like to know if all of the bars/restaurants/coffee shops that offer free WiFi in the area.

We try to cover everything here: Free WiFi.

Growing up here, I have to say the Newlands neighborhood was totally my idea of heaven. Still is, actually.

I'm close! And certainly walkable to Craig's. I'm totally spoiled living a block east of Virginia Lake. Easy to get everywhere, cool old neighborhood, great old & new neighbors.

Can't imagine living outside the McCarran loop ...
