Here's what I ultimately want: free wi-fi, parking, and, well, nothing else necessarily. Where are all the free wi-fi spots in town. I've seen the maps but they're woefully outdated. Let's build the best list right here.
I'll start: Java Jungle - free wi-fi, parking is iffy.
Ryan Jerz, I know you are a site ADMINISTRATOR and all that, but I do not think it is necessary to commandeer my login to post your little forum. However, to answer your question, I can't even remember the last time I searched for wi-fi within the city limits. So my contribution would be as woefully outdated as the maps you (I) referenced in your (my) question. Now can we go back to bars?
Christy, don't listen to Ryan... More free wifi: NuYalk Pizza, the health place that moved in next to Crush on California, and don't forget the art museum.
Considering I spend 11- to 12 hours a day on a computer I can reply with a little confidence on this lol.
1. Se7en Teahouse - Arlington Towers building
2. Tahoe Roasting Company - 600 Block of 4th Street
3. Five Star bar - West Street
4. Java Jungle
5. China East on 1400 block of S. Virginia (not sure if its their network or not but hey its free and unsecured woohoo)
6. Electronic Espresso (although this place just closed to reopen as a new place)
7. Hookava
8. Dreamer's Coffee House
9. DISH Cafe
10. Sierra Spirit buses
11. Downtown Marketplace Deli
12. Rejuvenation
13. Nevada Museum of Fine Art
14. Nevada County LIbrary
15. Sports West Athletic Club
And that's just my little swath of neighborhood downtown :)
Now that is a solid list. Thanks a lot for that. And welcome!
It should be noted, so I don't seem like a total jerk (at least in this instance), that I posted this forum under my wife's account on accident (buy me a laptop of my own). Then I posted that it was lame. Keep them coming, all.
Thanks for that list, but I have to say, who on earth would go to the health place next Crush, the Sports West Athletic Club, the Sierra Spirit bus or the museum to work online? How weird. How about places that are actually workday friendly?
I have a few suggestions of my own - Josef's Vienna has free wi-fi, but the problem is that you need to rely entirely on your battery, because there isn't an electrical outlet to be found in the place. Walden's coffeehouse is my favorite spot, if you can deal with the after-school crowd of teenagers wanting frozen, blended drinks. And My Favorite Muffin has it, too.
Every Bully's has WiFi via ClearWire and free parking.
Uh oh, I feel a spiel coming... shit, wait for it, wait for it...
Every bar/restaurant in town should have free WiFi and serve their specials/menu on the log in page. One will generally be connected by the time they start getting bad service, so have a jump on the game and tell them to save the - look off into the distance while they try to remember specials - routine, you know what the specials are, you'll have the WiFi special, in fact I've you've sent an email to the kitchen with your order and table number, please bring the food when it's ready and just go back to treating everyone else in the place like shit.
Do any of the hotels have wi-fi yet? We had a mini conference here a couple of years ago and it was not to be found. Muy embarrassing for me to have to tell our out-of-town guests that they had to leave their rooms at Harrah's and go to Starbucks to check their email.
